BioWare Refocusing Their "Mission" for Anthem

BioWare assures fans that Anthem will be story-driven, contain character development, and focus on world-building in light of fans' critical response to Mass Effect: Andromeda.

In a blog post, BioWare's General Manager, Casey Hudson, stated that he knows about Mass Effect: Andromeda's failure to not being able to release story DLC. Casey Hudson, who previously worked on the original Mass Effect Trilogy, returned to BioWare as a General Manager just in time for Andromeda to release. He states that BioWare wants to refocus what their “mission” was for Anthem.

“We need to delight players with new experiences and innovation,” Hudson said. “But we must stay focused on the importance of the world, character, and storytelling elements that players expect from our games.”

“It’s in that spirit that we are working through production on Anthem–a game designed to create a whole new world of story and character that you can experience with friends in an ongoing series of adventures,” Hudson said. “It will be unlike anything you’ve played, but if we do it right, it will feel very distinctly BioWare.”

Anthem was initially supposed to be released this year, but has been pushed back for release in 2019 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
